What Viewpoint limits and what it doesn’t
The short version: your library has no limits. A few specific surfaces have small caps for safety reasons that have nothing to do with quotas. This page is the honest list.
No limits
You can create as many of these as you want:
- Spots. Every place you scout, every pin you drop. Bring decades of fieldwork — no cap.
- Maps. Group your spots however you like — by trip, by genre, by season, by mood. No cap on how many you create.
- Shoot plans. Plan every visit, every angle, every alignment. No cap.
- Notification watches. Subscribe to as many conditions as you want to be alerted on.
That’s a deliberate product choice. Viewpoint is your scouting library, not a metered service.
The few things that ARE limited
Photos per spot — 10
Each spot can hold up to 10 photos. Enough for a thorough scout — multiple angles, a result shot, a planning reference, and a couple of variations. The full reasoning lives in How Viewpoint handles your photos.
Registered devices per account — 10
This one applies only once you sign in — push notifications need an account so we know which device to reach. As a guest you don’t register a device and don’t receive alerts, so this cap doesn’t apply to you.
Your account can have up to 10 devices registered for push notifications at once. That’s phone + iPad + Mac + Apple Watch + spare iPhone + a couple more — well above what any one person typically uses.
The reason isn’t a quota. It’s an anti-abuse safeguard: a script could otherwise loop fake device tokens against the registration endpoint, bloating the push-delivery system. If you legitimately hit this limit, tell us — we’ll raise the cap for your account or globally.
Photo file size — 3 MB
Each photo upload is capped at 3 MB. Viewpoint compresses photos on your device before upload (1920px on the longest edge, high-quality JPEG → roughly 300–700 KB per photo), so this cap is ~6× headroom above the typical compressed file. The full reasoning is in How Viewpoint handles your photos.
If your photographic workflow needs print-quality archives, that’s on the roadmap — it’ll lift this cap when it ships.
Why this matters
Viewpoint’s pricing isn’t quota-based — you don’t get more spots by paying more. The subscription unlocks the app’s capabilities (live conditions, monitoring, advanced planning), never quantity. Your library is uncapped whether you’re in the trial or on a paid plan, signed in or using the app as a guest.
That choice is deliberate and reversible — if your usage pattern suggests we got it wrong, let us know.
