Turn a transcript into a summary, the key points, and a to-do list — generated by AI that runs entirely on your phone.

What it does

The Insights tab analyzes a transcribed recording — your most recent by default, or any other you pick from the selector — and produces three things: a Smart Summary (a couple of sentences capturing the gist), Key Highlights (the decisions and takeaways), and Action Items (tasks, with the responsible person when one was named). Those action items become an interactive Task Matrix — check them off, add your own, and reach the same list from the recording’s detail view. Insights are saved with the recording, so they stay the same each time you open them; a Regenerate button re-runs the AI for a fresh pass. You can export the whole set as a Markdown file with an integrity checksum.

The AI runs on your device. Your transcript is never sent anywhere.

When to use it

• Catching up on a long meeting without re-reading the whole transcript.
• Pulling the to-dos out of a conversation and checking them off.
• Sharing a clean summary of a discussion as a Markdown document.

How it works

1. Record and transcribe something on the Record tab (it’s saved to your Vault).
2. Open the Insights tab. The first time, it generates insights for your newest transcribed recording on-device and saves them; after that it loads the saved result. To analyze a different one, tap the recording selector at the top.
3. Read the Smart Summary, scan the Key Highlights, and work the Task Matrix — tap a task to complete it, or add your own. Tap Regenerate for a fresh AI pass.
4. Tap Export Markdown Document to save and share the insights as a .md file. The MD5 checksum shown lets you verify the file hasn’t been altered.

Privacy

Everything stays on device. VoiceScribe does not collect, transmit, or persist any data off your device. Insight generation uses Apple’s on-device intelligence; your transcript never leaves the phone, and the feature works offline.

⚠️ Note: If your device doesn’t support on-device AI, VoiceScribe tells you insights are unavailable rather than sending your transcript anywhere.

Known limits

• Requires a device, OS, and region that support Apple’s on-device intelligence; where it isn’t available, the tab says so instead of generating.
• Summaries, highlights, and action items are AI-generated and may miss or misstate details — treat them as a helpful draft, not a record of fact.
• Insights default to your most recent transcribed recording; use the selector to analyze a different one. Results are saved and reloaded — tap Regenerate to re-run the AI.
