Dot Matrix Containment Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-24 Last updated: 2026-08-24
This privacy policy explains how Dot Matrix Containment (“the app”, “we”, “I” — published by Marcos Barbero, a solo independent developer) handles your information. Dot Matrix Containment is distributed via the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The short version: the game itself collects nothing and has no servers. The free version shows ads, and the advertising SDK that delivers them does collect data — that part is described plainly below. Premium removes the ads and, with them, the SDK’s collection. There is no account at any point.
1. What the game itself collects
Nothing. Dot Matrix Containment has no servers, no analytics SDK, and no account system. Specifically, the game does not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, postal address, Apple ID or Google account.
- Your location.
- Your contacts, calendar, photos, or files.
- Which buttons you tap, how long you play, or which levels you reach.
- Crash reports. No third-party crash SDK is embedded. Apple’s and Google’s first-party crash reporting can be enabled or disabled by you in your device settings.
Your high score, campaign progress and settings are stored on your device and are not transmitted anywhere by the game.
2. What the advertising SDK collects — free version only
The free version is paid for by advertising, delivered by Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, the AdMob SDK collects and processes:
- Advertising identifier — Apple’s IDFA (only if you allow tracking, see §3) or Android’s Advertising ID.
- Device and network information — device model, operating system version, language, coarse location derived from IP address, and IP address itself.
- Ad interaction data — which ads were shown, whether they were viewed or clicked.
This data is collected by Google, not by us. We never see it, and we receive only aggregate revenue reporting with no individual data in it.
Google’s handling of this data is governed by:
3. Your choices about advertising
In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, a consent form is shown before any ad is requested, using Google’s certified consent management platform. You choose whether ads may be personalised. You can change that choice at any time from Settings → Privacy choices inside the app — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
On iOS, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt asks separately whether the app may track you across apps and websites. Declining does not remove ads or change the game; it means the ads are non-personalised. You can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
4. Removing advertising entirely
The Premium Unlock in-app purchase removes all advertising. With ads removed, the advertising SDK is not initialised and collects nothing — no consent form, no tracking prompt, and no requests to any ad exchange.
5. Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple and Google. We never see or receive a payment detail — no card number, no billing address, no name. Whether you own the Premium Unlock is verified on your device against the store, with no server of ours involved.
6. Children
Dot Matrix Containment is not directed at children and is not listed in a children’s category. If that changes, this policy and the advertising configuration will change with it, and this section will say so.
7. Data retention and deletion
The game stores nothing off your device, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Deleting the app removes its local data, including your scores.
For data collected by Google AdMob, deletion is handled through Google using the links in §2, and by resetting your advertising identifier as described in §3.
8. Changes to this policy
Material changes will be reflected here with an updated “last updated” date. The version in effect is the one published at this URL.
